Isozaki was the design architect for the downtown branch of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. It is located within a nineteenth century landmark building. This branch tripled the museum's space in New York, and enabled them to show more art in a greater variety of gallery spaces. All architectural details were minimized to create a neutral and serene background for the art works.
