Located in Kirkuk, the cultural capital of Iraq, this proposal included an exhibition space, outdoor performance area, water tank and dining area. Taking advantage of the natural terrain of the site, the facilities are stacked around a central amphitheater. A concrete water tank tower on the north balances the composition. The plan is zoned so that the dining area and the gallery can be used separately instead of being dependent on each other. Inspired by the context, the structure uses deep local stone walls to reduce thermal heat gain as well as root the building in its surroundings.
